Miles goes to the Beach...

We went on our first family vacation with Miles over the Labor Day weekend. We stayed at Hidden Dunes in Destin, Florida. We had a great time.

Below is a link to photos from the vacation. I think if you click on the "Click here to view these pictures larger" you will go to the photo repository on shutterfly.

Miles is 4 1/2 months old!

Miles is smiling and laughing more. He is also playing by himself more although he prefers for someone to play with him. He has lost a lot of his hair that he was born with -- but still looks as cute as ever. He is still only rolling over by accident. It appears he is going to crawl before reliably rolling over. He seems to scoot around his play yard with motions that he will eventually use for crawling. He is standing up very well. He loves to touch people's faces now. He is so cute because he touches your face so gently -- he isn't so gentle with Brandon's arm or chest hair or my hair. Although for now, I can get him to let go of my hair fairly easily.

He is still a thinker. When he is in a new place, he quietly scopes the place and the people out before making any noise of his own. He loves for me to look at him when we are out and about -- such as walking through Target or eating in a restaurant. Whenever I look at him after looking at something in the store or talking to someone, he smiles really big and gets excited -- like he has been patiently waiting on me to look at him. I love this boy so much.

We started the Your Baby Can Read program --so far so good. Miles watches the videos 50 % of the time. He does a little better with the sliding flash cards since Brandon and I interact with him more.

Brandon bought me photography lighting which I played with it today and took some photos of Miles. I haven't quite figured it out yet, but I am enjoying trying. Miles gets a little tired of being the subject all of the time.

Miles is Three Months Old Today!

Miles is really growing up fast. Everyday he is doing something new. He is really starting to notice everything. He is very interested in the world around him.

He plays on his play yard a lot now. He is starting to play with the hanging toys.
In the next couple of photos, he was talking to the stuffed octopus.

Tomorrow, we go to the photographers to get his 3-month photos. I hope he does well. I won't know until tomorrow if I timed it right. Miles has been sleeping in lately, so I am hoping he won't be grumpy. Also, Miles is very serious when he is in a new place. It is hard to get him to smile.

Miles Rolled Over This Morning

The photo above is the result of the roll over.

This morning I put Miles on his play yard for tummy time and he effortlessly rolled over on his back within two minutes. I was watching him because he had his chest propped up higher than normal resting on his elbows. I was thinking about how much better he was getting then he started rising his legs off the ground and twisting them to the left slightly. After that, he started leaning on his left shoulder. Then the next thing I saw was him slowly rolling over onto his back.

We tried to get him to do it again right after that for the video camera but he was tired.

He is growing up so fast. We are still swaddling Miles at night. He likes to put his hands on his face which keeps him awake at night if we don't. Below is a photo of the swaddle we use. He is about to out grow it. We think Miles is a little over 13 pounds right now and 24 and 1/2 inches long.

Last night, we visited with friends and Miles wore his Hawaiian outfit.

Miles has really starting to want to cuddle. Below is a photo of Brandon and Miles after Miles woke up from a nap.
I took this photo to show that Miles is probably going to have his dad's morning hair.

Miles will be 11 Weeks Old Tomorrow...

Miles will be 11 weeks on Tuesday. He is really growing up fast. He will probably start losing his hair in back. He has really started moving his head back and forth. At night, I usually wake up to the sound of his head turning back and forth and not crying. He is sleeping about 6 hours straight now. We put him down about 11 PM and he generally wakes up at 5 AM. I feed him and he goes back to sleep until 8 or 9 AM.

He really likes his swing.

Miles went to Church!

Well, Miles went to church for the first time this weekend. He did wonderful. He slept through the service. He only made a few grunts. The above photo is Miles waiting to go to church. He really like his playyard.

Camping Fourth of July

Miles went on his first camping trip this weekend. We camped at Davis Lake in Mississippi.
It is about 20 minutes from Houston, MS. Miles did great. This was his first time to be away from home overnight.

He got to see his cousins Charles Wayne and Kyler again.

Miles is Two Months and Two Days

This is going to be a short post. Hopefully, I'll add photos later.

Miles went for his two month visit to the doctor yesterday. He is 23 and 1/2 inches long (69th percentile) and weighed 11 pounds 10 ounces (50th percentile). The doctor said everything looks great. He is doing all the developmental milestones that the doctor questioned. However, there are some in the books he isn't doing yet.

He got 4 vaccines yesterday. One oral and three shots. He cried for about two minutes before settling down. He was a little fussy after he woke up from his nap afterward, but after that time, he seemed fine. He slept a little more yesterday. I am so glad he isn't feeling too bad. I hope it stays that way -- I think it is possible to have a reaction up to seven days after the vaccines.

My little boy is going up. I can't believe how big he has gotten in such a short period of time. I am so glad I am not back at work yet and I am able to enjoy him.

Miles is 8 weeks and 2 days Today!

Miles has really become active these days. He smiles and plays a lot more. Below are a few photos of him.

Bath time has gotten better. He use to cry a lot. Now, he is very serious when bathing. He hasn't found it fun yet.

He is getting really good at the bumpo seat.

We traveled to Houston a few weeks back for Lauren's baby's first birthday (Ella Cate). These photos are a little out of order. This was the first time for most of my family to see Miles in person.

Miles is One Month Old Today!

Well, Miles went for a check up on May 19th. He is doing great! He weighed 8 pounds and 4 ounces -- which is one pound and one ounce more than his birth weight. He still measured 21 inches in length. The next doctor's visit will be end of June. He will get his shots at that appointment.

My mom and dad (Lisa's) came to visit this past weekend. This will be their third grandson. We had a good time visiting.

I try to take photos of Miles every few days so here are a few of them from this past week.
Miles tends to smile when he is going to sleep. I caught this one just as my battery died on my camera. His smile gets bigger (his mouth opens) but my camera was dead so I missed it.
Here is Miles sleeping on Dad's lap. He likes to put his arms up when he is sleeping.

I took some photos of Miles today on his one month birthday. We believe he is closer to 10 pounds now because Brandon weighed him a few days ago and he was between 9.6 and 10 pounds according to our scales.

He gets tummy time. He is very good at holding his head up.
He doesn't like diaper changes so much. It is hard not to do exactly what he wants when he makes faces like this.
This is Miles asleep on Dad's chest this evening.
Miles has been awake a lot the past couple of days. I don't seem to get anything accomplished. He likes to be held. He slept for a total of 15 minutes ( 10 minutes the first time and 5 minutes the next) in his pack and play today. He fell asleep in the bjorn carrier, in the swing, and on my chest. The rest of the time he had to be held and comforted.
